Kurashiki Bikanchiku

Kurashiki Bikanchiku is a very famous street in okayama. It is famous for the beautiful white walls. these walls are called "namako kabe" which means sea cucumber walls. these beautiful buldings were built in the edo period.
The kanji for "bikanchiku"
translates to "to see a beatiful area" or "to look at a beautful area"
Kurashiki Bikanchiku is truly a beautiful place to visit. not only are all the buildings white but also the scenery around is very pretty. Here is the stream that divides bikanjiku.
Inside these buildings were un remodeled old houses. so people could see how they lived in the edo period. Inside the house is a tatami room for sleeping and guest and a tiny porch where they would sit during spirng.
I also got to experience jinrikisha!
the kanjis translate in to "human powered wheels". This is what people used to get around a long time ago. It can only carry two people at a  time. The customer would sit in the back while the worker would hold the bars in the front and run to the destanation. Our guide was very nice. he explained a lot about the history of Bikanjiku. the history is very interesting.
On our trip in the jinrikisha we passed this. an old and famous bridge. on the side of it is written "hashi" bridge.
but it is different from the modern kanji. these days people can`t even read that kind of writing!

So in every way this was a very fun trip!

Bikanchiku is also a very romantic place to go. many couples go there on dates.  :)

Hiroshima

Hiroshima was fun! first we went to peace memorial park and the peace monument. they were super pretty! after that we went to the war museum. half way through i started to understand why they didin`t bring the smallest child in. it was so horrible. at one point i just started feeling sick and there were many other people like that too. some even cried. it was really bad. whatthey teach you at school cant compare to what it was and still is. the affects of all of that still carries out to this day. :( it was very horrifying to walk through.
 genbaku dome

 peace monument.

thousands of paper cranes sorrounding the peace mmonument

hiroshima

hiroshima with genbaku dome

Hiroshima city is really pretty! its filled with many tall buldings and so many people. i even saw a maid there! she was super cute! in the center of hiroshima lays genbaku dome. it is the only old building left. the a-bomb exploded 6 ft above it. its not a pretty sight. but they decided to persirve it as a monument and reminder of the damage caused by the bombing. after all of that we went yet to another historical sight. the hiroshima castle. of course this on is a replica of the original for the original was destroyed long long ago. hirshima castle had a very unique defense mechanism. they had of course holes to shoot from but also holes on floors to drop rocks at enemies climbing the walls and also they would use the sorruondin water as a defense in a unique way. i can`t put in to words cause it was all shown in pictures and np pictures were allowed to be taken. in the hiroshima castle area also lays the remains of the original hiroshima castle, the remains on a military base destroyed in the war and a tree that didint turn to ashes during the bombing. grusome looking tree. its white and black.
